Get to know me
The story behind the ceremony

About Toby
My work is always shaped around the people I serve, and I’ve learned that true connection makes a world of difference. For wedding couples, a comfortable, easy chemistry helps the ceremony feel relaxed and joyful. For funerals, trust and kindness are key — creating a safe space to honour a life. It all begins by getting to know each other.
So, here’s a little about me.
My Career has taken many fulfilling turns, all connected by one thread: people.
I began qualifying nurse gaining over thirty years experience in health care and leadership, including community and charity sector roles.
Training to become a celebrant felt like a natural progression drawing on my warm friendly manner, gentle humour and natural empathy, listening and connecting with others.

Toby the celebrant
With years of experience organising events, leading memorial services, hosting fundraising events and quiz nights, organising community occasions from fêtes to Christmas celebrations, all alongside my nursing career, training as a celebrant was a natural next step and soon became my passion.
I consider myself to be a professional in my field. I trained with the Academy of Professional Celebrants, I am a member of the Celebrant Connect organisation for ongoing development and peer support. Locally I attend the Midlands based Celebrant Circle to share ideas and keep abreast of the celebrant world.
I remain up to date with relevant subjects such as GDPR, equality diversity and inclusion, customer service and safeguarding. I hold an up to date DBS (police check). I am also a Mental Health First Aider.
I am registered with HMRC and hold Indemnity insurance.
I take pride in my professional relationships with other wedding suppliers, funeral directors and associated clients, sharing values such as care, professionalism, reliability and quality.

A little more about me
I've lived around the Midlands (East and West) all of my life and know the area and it's people well.
In my spare time I help to run a community choir, we raise both awareness and funds for local charities.
At home with my partner we have a beautiful whippet, together we enjoy many walks exploring nature. I also enjoy attending (and hosting) local quiz nights.
I have links to a local school where I can sometimes be found helping out during the exams seasons as an invigilator.
At weekends I enjoy seeking out the best place for coffee and cake, it's a dedication I take very seriously!
